Method
Torté Directions
- 1
Melt the Chocolate
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper. In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- 2
Mix the Batter
In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring gently until fully incorporated.
- 3
Bake the Torté
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- 4
Prepare the Chocolate Sauce
For the chocolate sauce, melt an additional 100g of dark chocolate with 50ml of heavy cream over low heat, stirring until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
- 5
Serve
Once the torté is cool, slice it and serve with the warm chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. Garnish with fresh berries of your choice.
