Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Skillet

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it's shimmering but not smoking.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the ribeye steak to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steak and add the garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the skillet. Sear for another 4-5 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter and pan juices.

  6. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C). Remove the steak from the skillet once it reaches your desired doneness.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Transfer the ribeye to a cutting board and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra rosemary or garlic.
