Method

Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the saucepan while continuously stirring. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Main Dish Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Protein

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breast (or tofu) cut into bite-sized pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Stir-fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and sliced carrot. Stir-fry for about 5-6 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.

  3. 5

    Combine Protein and Sauce

Return the cooked chicken (or tofu) to the skillet. Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the protein and vegetables. Stir well to combine and heat through for about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 6

    Serve

Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve warm over rice or noodles if desired.
