Toppings

Method

Preparation of Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook the Saimin Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the saimin noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes until tender. Drain and rinse under cold water to cool. Set aside.

Preparation of Base

  1. 2

    Prepare the Lettuce

While the noodles are cooling, wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place the lettuce in a large salad bowl as the base of the salad.

Preparation of Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Toppings

Slice the char-siu pork thinly and set aside. Slice the fish cake into thin rounds. Chop the green onions finely, using both the white and green parts.

Making the Dressing

  1. 4

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and minced garlic until well combined. Stir in the sesame seeds and set aside.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 5

    Assemble the Salad

On top of the lettuce, arrange the cooled saimin noodles evenly. Layer the sliced char-siu pork and fish cake on top of the noodles. Garnish with the chopped green onions.

  2. 6

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the sesame dressing generously over the salad just before serving. Toss gently to combine, if desired.
