Method

Pork Laulau

    Prepare the Pork

    Cut the pork shoulder into large chunks and sprinkle with Hawaiian sea salt.

    Wrap in Taro Leaves

    Wrap the salted pork in taro leaves, securing them with ti leaves.

    Steam the Laulau

    Place the wrapped pork in a steamer and steam for about 3-4 hours, adding water to the steamer as necessary.

Kalua Pig

    Prepare the Pork

    Rub the pork butt with Hawaiian sea salt and liquid smoke.

    Wrap in Banana Leaves

    Wrap the seasoned pork in banana leaves and place in a slow cooker.

    Cook the Kalua Pig

    Cook on low for about 8 hours, or until the meat is tender and shreds easily.

Lomi Salmon

    Chop the Ingredients

    Finely chop the salted salmon, tomato, and green onion.

    Mix Together

    In a bowl, combine the chopped salmon, tomato, green onion, and lime juice. Mix well.

    Chill

    Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Chicken Long Rice

    Cook the Chicken

    In a pot, add the chicken thighs and cover with chicken broth. Bring to a boil.

    Add Noodles

    Once the chicken is cooked, remove it and shred it. Add the sweet potato noodles to the broth and cook until soft.

    Season

    Add the shredded chicken back to the pot, along with ginger, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Stir and simmer for 10 minutes.

Rice

    Cook the Rice

    In a pot, combine white rice and water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and cover. Cook for about 18-20 minutes or until rice is fluffy.
