Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Wonton Assembly

  1. 2

    Assemble the Wontons

Take a wonton wrapper and place a teaspoon of the pork filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it over to form a triangle, and press the edges to seal. You can also shape it into a purse by bringing the corners together and pinching to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Frying

  1. 3

    Fry the Wontons

In a deep skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the assembled wontons in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Sweet and Sour Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, rice vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. Heat over medium heat while stirring until the mixture thickens and reaches a desired consistency. Remove from heat and set aside.
