Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk together the large eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until pale and slightly thickened.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Fold gently until just combined.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center remains soft.
- 8
Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes.
- 9
Invert and Serve
Invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift to release the cake. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce.
