Method
Marinade Preparation
- 1
Mix the Marinade
In a medium-sized bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, and black pepper. Whisk together until the sugar is dissolved and all ingredients are well incorporated.
- 2
Marinate the Meat
Place the thinly sliced top sirloin in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring all pieces are coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Cooking the Bulgogi
- 3
Preheat the Grill
If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If using a stovetop grill pan, heat it over medium-high heat.
- 4
Cook the Meat
Remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Brush the grill with vegetable oil. Grill the bulgogi for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
Serving the Dish
- 5
Plate the Bulgogi
Once cooked, remove the bulgogi from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice it further if needed.
- 6
Serve
Serve the bulgogi over a bed of cooked rice, alongside kimchi and fresh lettuce leaves. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
