Ice Cream Base
Method
Making Hand-Churned Ice Cream
- 1
Prepare the Ice Cream Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
- 2
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the ice cream mixture into a hand-cranked ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency, usually about 20-30 minutes.
- 3
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Cover and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up further before serving.
