Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of BBQ Sauce

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the Kölsch beer, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Sauce

Heat the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and let the mixture come to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 3

    Cool the Sauce

Remove from heat and let the BBQ sauce cool to room temperature. This can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.

Cooking the Prawns

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 375°F (190°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare the Prawns

Rinse the Alaskan spot prawns under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. If they are not already peeled, peel them, leaving the tails intact for easy handling.

  3. 6

    Skewer the Prawns

Thread the prawns onto skewers, about 3 per skewer, to make them easier to handle on the grill.

  4. 7

    Grill the Prawns

Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the prawns turn pink and opaque.

  5. 8

    Serve

Remove the prawns from the grill and serve immediately with the cooled AKB Kölsch BBQ sauce for dipping.
