Main ingredients

Method

Preparation, steaming, and serving

  1. 1

    Thaw and prep (if frozen)

If the king crab legs are frozen, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water for 20-30 minutes. Rinse briefly and pat dry with a towel.

  2. 2

    Set up steamer

Place a large pot on the stove with about 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer and fit with a steamer insert or basket.

  3. 3

    Steam the crab legs

Arrange the crab legs in a single layer in the steamer. Cover and steam until heated through and the meat is opaque, about 6-8 minutes for thawed legs, 10-12 minutes if frozen.

  4. 4

    Make the butter sauce

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  5. 5

    Flavor the sauce

Stir in lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 1 minute to blend flavors, then remove from heat.

  6. 6

    Finish sauce and garnish

Stir in chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  7. 7

    Serve

Transfer the steamed crab legs to a platter. Drizzle with warm butter sauce or serve sauce on the side. Garnish with lemon wedges and additional parsley if desired.
