Ice Cream Balls

Breading and Frying

Garnishing

Method

Prepare Ice Cream Balls

  1. 1

    Scoop Ice Cream

Using an ice cream scoop, take out 4 scoops of ice cream and place them on a tray. Return the tray to the freezer to harden for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare Bread

While the ice cream hardens, remove the crusts from the pan de miga (white bread) slices. Flatten each slice with a rolling pin.

Wrap Ice Cream

  1. 3

    Wrap the Ice Cream

Once the ice cream is hard, take a scoop and place it in the center of a flattened slice of pan de miga. Fold the edges of the bread over the ice cream to completely enclose it. Repeat with all scoops.

  2. 4

    Freeze Wrapped Balls

Place the wrapped ice cream balls back in the freezer for at least 1 hour to ensure they are firm.

Prepare Breading Mixture

  1. 5

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a shallow dish, mix the all-purpose flour, sugar, and ground cinnamon.

  2. 6

    Prepare Wet Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 7

    Prepare Breadcrumbs

Place breadcrumbs in a separate shallow dish.

Fry Ice Cream

  1. 8

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Bread the Ice Cream

Take the frozen wrapped ice cream balls from the freezer. Dip each ball first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, ensuring they are well-covered.

  3. 10

    Fry the Ice Cream

Carefully place the breaded ice cream balls in the hot oil. Fry for about 30-40 seconds or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 11

    Garnish and Serve

Place the fried ice cream on a serving plate. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Serve immediately.
