Method
Flan Base
- 1
Blend Ingredients
In a blender, combine the eggs, cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- 2
Prepare Baking Dish
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a flan mold or a round baking dish by placing it aside for later.
Caramel
- 3
Make Caramel
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and allow it to boil until it turns a golden amber color. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- 4
Pour Caramel
Quickly and carefully pour the caramel into the prepared flan mold, tilting the mold to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to let the caramel harden.
Combine and Bake
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the blended flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold.
- 6
Bake Flan
Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish filled with hot water (water bath). Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set in the center.
- 7
Cool Down
Once baked, remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 8
Serve
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Invert the mold onto a serving platter to release the flan. The caramel will flow over the top as a sauce.
