Eggs and Meat

Hotcakes or French Toast

Method

Preparing the Eggs and Meat

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a skillet over medium heat, cook your choice of bacon, sausage links, or ham until crispy. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Eggs

In the same skillet, crack 2 eggs and cook them to your desired doneness, either sunny-side-up, over-easy, or scrambled. Season with salt and pepper.

Cooking the Hashbrowns

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a separate skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Hashbrowns

Add 2 cups of frozen hashbrowns to the skillet. Spread them out evenly and season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes until crispy and golden brown.

Making Hotcakes or French Toast

  1. 5

    Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, and 1 egg. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  2. 6

    Cook the Hotcakes

In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each hotcake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 7

    Alternatively Make French Toast

For French toast, dip slices of bread into the egg mixture (1 egg, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp cinnamon), allowing excess to drip off. Cook in a skillet with melted butter until golden brown on both sides.
