Method
Meatballs
- 1
Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- 2
Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.
Sauce

- 5
Prepare the Sauce
Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, sugar, salt, black pepper, and basil to the saucepan. Stir well, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer while the meatballs bake, about 15 minutes.
Spaghetti
- 6
Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- 7
Drain the Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander, and drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil to prevent sticking. Toss to coat.
Assembly
- 8
Combine and Serve
To serve, place a portion of spaghetti on each plate, top with a generous amount of sauce, and then place 2-3 meatballs on top. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
