Seasoning and Cooking

Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the strip steak on both sides with salt and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes to allow the seasoning to penetrate.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the strip steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare (adjust the time for desired doneness).

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. This will allow the juices to redistribute.

Cooking the Eggs

  1. 4

    Heat the Skillet

In the same skillet used for the steak, lower the heat to medium. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt.

  2. 5

    Cook the Eggs

Crack the eggs into the skillet. Cook them to your desired doneness: sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Slice the rested strip steak against the grain and place it on a plate next to the cooked eggs. Serve immediately.
