Method

Preparing the Marinade

  1. 1

    Make the Marinade

In a bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped fresh rosemary, black pepper, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

Marinating the Steak

  1. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the strip steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a bit of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 20 minutes. Place the steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer it more cooked.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Preparing Optional Sides

  1. 6

    Cook Asparagus

While the steak is resting, cook the asparagus by steaming or grilling for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

  2. 7

    Roast Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into wedges. Toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 30-35 minutes until golden and crispy.
