Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or penne and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

  3. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 6

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. 7

    Cook Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.

Combine and Serve

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked pasta. Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
