Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.
Meat Sauce Preparation
- 3
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- 4
Add Garlic and Meat
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Then add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- 7
Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 8
Serve
Serve the spaghetti Bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
