Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the sirloin steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. This will ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Slice the Vegetables

While the steak is resting, slice the onion into thin rings and the mushrooms into thick slices.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Season the Steak

Rub both sides of the sirloin steaks with olive oil. Then, season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steaks to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

  4. 6

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add a little more olive oil if necessary. Add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and caramelized. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Serve

Slice the rested sirloin steaks against the grain. Serve the sliced steak topped with the sautéed onions and mushrooms.
