Dry Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix the warm water and olive oil together until combined.

Dough Formation

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.

  2. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

Rising

  1. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a baking stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 7

    Divide and Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and flatten with your hands into disks about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Bake Pita

Place the disks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or directly on the hot baking stone. Bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until they puff up and are lightly golden.

  4. 9

    Cool Down

Remove the pita bread from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.
