Cook the Beef Patties
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Patty Melt
Spread mayonnaise and mustard on one side of each slice of rye bread. Place a slice of cheese-topped patty on top of the mayonnaise side of two slices of bread, followed by the caramelized onions. Top with the other slice of bread, mayonnaise side down.
