Method

Preparing the Mushrooms

  1. 1

    Clean and Marinate

Clean the portobello mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Brush this mixture over both sides of the mushrooms. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 2

    Grilling the Mushrooms

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the marinated portobello mushrooms on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until tender and juicy.

  2. 3

    Adding Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each mushroom and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the grilled mushroom with melted Swiss cheese. Add slices of tomato on top and spread mayonnaise on the top half of the bun. Close the burger.
