Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thin rounds.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Corned Beef

Slice the corned beef into thin strips, if not pre-sliced.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices of rye bread, layer the sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard on top of the tomato.

  3. 5

    Top and Grill

Place the remaining two slices of rye bread on top, buttered side facing out. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat, and grill the sandwiches for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwiches from the heat, let them cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot.
