Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- 2
Prepare the Ham
Place the whole ham in a roasting pan with the flat side down. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut too deeply.
Making the Glaze
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and black pepper.
- 4
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until it forms a smooth glaze.
Cooking the Ham
- 5
Add Water
Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the roasting pan to keep the ham moist during cooking.
- 6
Apply the Glaze
Brush the glaze generously over the scored surface of the ham.
- 7
Roast the Ham
Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for approximately 15 minutes per pound, basting with the glaze every 30 minutes.
- 8
Finish Cooking
Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow the glaze to caramelize.
Serving
- 9
Rest and Serve
Once the ham reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C), remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
