Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter evenly on one side of each slice of Texas toast.

Assembly

  1. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place two slices of the Texas toast, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Layer two slices of cheddar cheese and one slice of American cheese on top of each slice of bread. Place the remaining two slices of Texas toast, buttered side up, on top to form two sandwiches.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Grill the Sandwiches

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.

  2. 4

    Flip and Finish

Using a spatula, gently flip the sandwiches over and grill the opposite side for an additional 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Serving

  1. 5

    Slice and Serve

Remove the grilled cheese sandwiches from the skillet. Let them cool for a minute, then slice them diagonally and serve warm.
