For the Chicken Tenders

Prepare the Chicken
Cut the chicken breasts into strips.

Marinate
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add chicken strips, cover, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix the flour and cornstarch. Dredge the marinated chicken strips in the flour mixture until thoroughly coated.

Fry the Chicken
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add chicken strips in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes per batch). Drain on paper towels.

Preheat the Waffle Maker
Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Combine Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

Pour the batter into the preheated waffle maker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden and crisp.

Place one Belgian waffle on a plate, top with three chicken tenders, and drizzle with maple syrup. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
