Method

Hot Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then mix in the milk and melted butter until fully incorporated.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing; the batter should be slightly lumpy.

  4. 4

    Add Blueberries/Chocolate Chips

Fold in the blueberries or chocolate chips gently into the batter.

  5. 5

    Cook the Hot Cakes

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each hot cake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Protein Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook Bacon/Sausage/Ham or Eggs

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Alternatively, cook the sausage links according to package instructions. If opting for eggs, crack them into a non-stick pan and cook to your desired doneness (scrambled, fried, or poached).
