Method

Prepare Hot Cakes

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the milk, large egg, and melted butter together until fully incorporated.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

  4. 4

    Add Blueberries or Chocolate Chips

Gently fold in the blueberries or chocolate chips into the batter.

  5. 5

    Heat Pan

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil.

  6. 6

    Cook Hot Cakes

Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each hot cake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Keep Warm

Transfer hot cakes to a plate and cover with a kitchen towel to keep warm while you cook the remaining batter.

Prepare Proteins

  1. 8

    Cook Bacon or Sausage

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Alternatively, cook the sausage links according to package instructions until browned and cooked through.

  2. 9

    Cook Ham or Eggs

If using ham, simply warm it in the skillet for about 2 minutes. If using eggs, crack them into the skillet and cook to your desired doneness (scrambled, fried, etc.).
