Prepare the Ingredients
Slice the tomato into thin rounds and set aside. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.

Heat the Corned Beef
In a small saucepan, over medium heat, warm the corned beef until heated through, about 5 minutes. If desired, shred or slice the corned beef for easier layering.
Assembly

Prepare the Bread
Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.

Layer the Sandwich
On the unbuttered side of two slices of rye bread, layer the warmed corned beef, followed by Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato slices. If using, spread mustard or horseradish sauce on the other two slices of rye bread.

Complete the Sandwich
Top the layers with the remaining slices of rye bread, buttered side up.

Slice and Serve
Once grilled to perfection, remove the sandwiches from the heat. Slice them in half and serve immediately with pickles or chips on the side, if desired.
