Chopped Steak

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the cooked lentils, finely chopped mushrooms, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, ground oats, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Shape the mixture into round patties, about 1/2 inch thick. You should get around 6 patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Gravy

In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of vegetable broth, 2 tablespoons of brown gravy mix, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and stir until thickened.

  5. 5

    Serve

Place the chopped steak patties on a plate, drizzle with brown gravy, and serve with your choice of french fries, tater tots, pasta salad, or side salad.
