Method
Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the yeast mixture, melted unsalted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- 4
Incorporate Pearl Sugar
Fold in the pearl sugar gently into the batter.
- 5
Let it Rise
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the batter rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 6
Preheat Waffle Iron
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- 7
Cook Waffles
Once the batter has risen, scoop a portion into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy, usually about 3-5 minutes.
- 8
Serve
Remove the waffles from the iron, dust them with powdered sugar, and serve warm.
