Belgium Biscuits

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Belgium Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface and pat to 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Southern White Gravy

In a skillet, heat sausage or bacon drippings over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened, then season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate skillet, cook the eggs to your preference (scrambled, fried, etc.). If adding protein, cook it alongside the eggs.

  4. 4

Prepare Hash Browns or Home Fries

Peel and grate or dice potatoes. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add potatoes and cook until crispy and golden, seasoning with salt to taste.

  5. 5

    Serve

Plate the biscuits, top with gravy, and serve alongside the cooked eggs and potatoes.
