Method
Preparing the Broccoli Rabe
- 1
Wash and Trim
Wash the broccoli rabe under cold water and trim off any tough stems.
- 2
Blanch
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli rabe and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.
- 3
Sauté
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the blanched broccoli rabe, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until crispy and tender.
Making the Turmeric Tahina Sauce
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a bowl, combine tahini, turmeric powder, lemon juice, garlic powder, water, and salt.
- 5
Whisk Together
Whisk the mixture until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add more water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
Garnishing
- 6
Toast Coconut Flakes
In a small dry skillet over medium heat, toast the coconut flakes for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown, stirring frequently.
- 7
Serve
Plate the crispy broccoli rabe, drizzle with turmeric tahina sauce, and sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes and lemon zest before serving.
