Prepare the glass
Place the sugar cube in an old fashioned glass. Add the bitters and water, then muddle until the sugar is dissolved.

Add bourbon
Fill the glass with ice cubes and pour in the bourbon. Stir gently to combine.

Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink and drop it in as a garnish. Add a maraschino cherry on top.
