Make the Basil Simple Syrup
In a saucepan, combine equal parts water and sugar with fresh basil leaves. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then let it cool and strain the basil leaves out.

Mix the Drink
In a cocktail shaker, combine joven mezcal, strawberry purée, fresh squeezed lime juice, and basil simple syrup.

Shake and Serve
Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Strain into a glass filled with ice and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
