Method

Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Remove the fries from the water, pat them dry, and carefully add them to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Onion Rings

  1. 6

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings.

  2. 7

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until the batter is smooth.

  3. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 9

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.

  5. 10

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Side Salad

  1. 11

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and chop the lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and carrot into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 12

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 13

    Assemble the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the chopped vegetables and drizzle with the dressing. Toss gently to combine.
