Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 4

    Layer the Lasagna

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top, followed by a third of the cheese mixture, a third of the meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with meat sauce and topping with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

  2. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  3. 6

    Let it Rest

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
