Method
Fried Green Beans
- 1
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash the fresh green beans under cold running water. Trim the ends and cut them in half if they are long.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking until you reach a smooth batter consistency.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature.
- 4
Batter the Green Beans
Dip each green bean into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Green Beans
Carefully drop the battered green beans into the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
House Ranch Dressing
- 6
Make the Dressing
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise and sour cream. Add dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- 7
Chill the Dressing
Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
Voodoo Style (Optional)
- 8
Add Cajun Seasoning
For a spicy kick, sprinkle Cajun seasoning over the fried green beans immediately after removing them from the oil, while they are still hot.
