Prepare the Burger Patty

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired level of doneness.

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.
