Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Fudge Topping Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the Fudge Topping

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cocoa powder, butter, and milk. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 8

    Add Vanilla and Sugar

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and glossy.

  3. 9

    Top the Cake

Once the cakes have cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of fudge topping on top. Place the second layer on top and pour the remaining fudge topping over the entire cake, allowing it to drizzle down the sides.
