Method
Prepare the Bacon
- 1
Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the thick-cut bacon slices. Cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until crispy and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
Make the Aioli
- 2
Prepare Garlic Aioli
In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic (minced), lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Adjust salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
Prepare Vegetables
- 3
Slice the Tomato
Wash the large tomato and slice it into thick slices.
- 4
Wash and Prepare Lettuce
Wash the romaine lettuce leaves thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with a clean towel and tear into smaller pieces if desired.
Assemble the Sandwich
- 5
Toast the Bread
In the same skillet used for the bacon, toast the Texas toast slices until golden brown on both sides. You can add a bit of bacon grease for extra flavor if desired.
- 6
Build the Sandwich
Spread a generous amount of garlic aioli on one side of each slice of toasted Texas toast. Layer the crispy bacon, followed by the romaine lettuce and tomato slices. Top with another slice of toast, aioli side down.
Serve
- 7
Cut and Serve
Cut the sandwich in half diagonally and serve immediately. Enjoy your Big BLT!
