Flourless Chocolate Torte
Method
Directions
- 1
Prepare the Oven and Pan
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt the Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.
- 3
Whisk the Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk the granulated sugar and eggs together until pale and frothy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until well combined. Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, and fold gently until the batter is smooth.
- 5
Bake the Torte
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 6
Cool the Torte
Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
