Method

Brisket Preparation

  1. 1

    Season and Cook the Brisket

Rub the brisket with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Place in a slow cooker and pour beef broth over it. Cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.

  2. 2

    Chop the Brisket

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and chop it into small pieces. Mix with barbecue sauce.

Cornbread Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.

  3. 5

    Combine and Bake

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place a generous portion of chopped brisket on each bun. Optionally drizzle with extra barbecue sauce. Serve with coleslaw and baked beans on the side, along with a piece of cornbread.
