Vietnamese Traditional Lunch Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions, usually using a rice cooker or on the stovetop with 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine fish sauce, minced garlic, and sugar. Add the chicken breast, ensuring it is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side until fully cooked. Let it rest before slicing.
- 4
Prepare the Vegetables
While the chicken is cooking, wash and prepare the lettuce, cucumber, and carrot. Cut the cucumber into thin slices, julienne the carrot, and separate the lettuce leaves.
- 5
Assemble the Dish
On a plate, place a serving of jasmine rice. Arrange sliced chicken on top, and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve with lettuce leaves, cucumber slices, julienned carrot, and lime wedges on the side.
