Aioli
Method
Calamari Preparation
Prepare the Squid
Rinse the cleaned squid under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
Mix the Coating
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Coat the Squid
Dredge the squid rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
Fry the Squid
Carefully add the coated squid rings to the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain the Squid
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried calamari to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Aioli Preparation
Mix Aioli Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
Whisk Together
Use a whisk or fork to mix the ingredients until smooth and well combined.
Taste and Adjust
Taste the aioli and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if desired.
