Wonton Ice Cream and Garnishes
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Make the Orange Ginger Ice Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine the orange juice, grated ginger, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well blended. Pour this mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. Transfer to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- 2
Prepare Wonton Wrappers
While the ice cream is freezing, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet. Take the wonton wrappers and cut them into circles using a cookie cutter. Place them on the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy. Allow them to cool.
- 3
Prepare Chocolate Shards
Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler. Once melted, spread the chocolate thinly on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it set in the refrigerator until firm. Once set, break into shards.
- 4
Assemble the Dream-cicle
Once the ice cream is fully frozen, scoop a generous amount into each wonton wrapper. Top with candied orange zest and a few chocolate shards. Serve immediately.
