Method
Preparation of Oysters
- 1
Clean the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water to remove any dirt and grit. Place them in a bowl and cover with cold water for about 30 minutes to help them expel sand.
- 2
Shuck the Oysters
Using an oyster knife, carefully shuck each oyster, placing the opened oysters on a baking sheet. Discard the top shell and keep the oyster in the bottom shell.
Prepare Garlic Butter
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.
- 4
Prepare Breadcrumb Topping
- 5
Mix Breadcrumbs
In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Mix until the breadcrumbs are evenly coated.
Assemble and Bake
- 6
Assemble Oysters
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spoon a small amount of the garlic butter mixture over each oyster, then top with a generous tablespoon of the breadcrumb mixture.
- 7
Bake Oysters
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the oysters are bubbly and the breadcrumb topping is golden brown.
Serve
- 8
Serve Hot
Remove the oysters from the oven and let them cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy your baked oysters warm with lemon wedges on the side.
