Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Linguine

Add the linguine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the linguine in a colander.

Preparing Shrimp Scampi

  1. 4

    Sauté Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Once melted and hot, add the large shrimp to the pan.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic and Seasonings

Sauté the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Deglaze with Wine

Pour in the white wine, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Allow the wine to simmer and reduce for about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 7

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the butter is melted and the sauce is well combined.

  5. 8

    Combine with Pasta

Add the cooked linguine to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it.

  6. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
