Ahi Tuna

Mango Salsa

Method

Ahi Tuna

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Pat the Ahi tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Brush both sides with olive oil and season generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved. Remove from the skillet and sprinkle sesame seeds on both sides.

Mango Salsa

  1. 3

    Prepare the Salsa

Peel and dice the ripe mango into small cubes. Finely chop the red onion, red bell pepper, and cilantro. In a bowl, combine the mango, red onion, red bell pepper, cilantro, lime juice, and season with salt to taste. Mix well and set aside.

Cucumber Wasabi Sauce

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

Peel and finely grate the cucumber. In a bowl, mix together the grated cucumber, wasabi paste, sour cream, and lemon juice. Season with salt to taste. Adjust the wasabi according to your heat preference.

Plating

  1. 5

    Serve the Dish

On a plate, place the seared Ahi tuna steaks. Top with the mango salsa and drizzle the cucumber wasabi sauce over the top. Serve immediately.
